Canadian singer-songwriter Shannon Dooks releases "DOUBTS" February 2021

Although I wrote “DOUBTS” based on my own experience, I didn’t feel my voice was the right voice to carry the message of this song into the marketplace. Nor did it make sense for me to take it on as an artist to share with my audience. Though, having experienced the story so strongly that it inspired me to write it, I also didn’t want to push it aside.

As chance would have it, I had met and was writing / working with singer-songwriter Shannon Dooks on Shannon’s upcoming album, and Shannon’s voice and vibe were the perfect fit for “Doubts”. And so, “Doubts” was recorded and produced by my team with the intention of it finding its way into the tv / film / sync world. And so began the beginning of the journey for “Doubts”.

Meanwhile, Shannon’s album project was hitting a covid barrier and was (and is) consequently delayed. And so I suggested that given the perfect alliance of Shannon and “Doubts” that perhaps Shannon would be interested in releasing this ready to go song as her first step back out into the market. Shannon, who very much connected with the story behind “Doubts”, happily leapt at the opportunity.

Produced by newly arrived to Canada, UK Producer Will Schollar, mixed at the historic Kensington Sound, “Doubts” was released February 2021, and has been received with great enthusiasm . The video directed, written & shot by Toronto based, Nicholas Posthumus and edited & shot by Evan Henderson was released in May 2021.

All said, it’s an interesting outcome for a song that was on a different path with a different intention. As it turns out, “Doubts now sitting with over 50,000 streams was a perfect song to pave the way forward for Shannon.
